War Zone
We agree not to argue –
solve problems peacefully.
Then you go away on a weekend break
and I have time to brood.
On your return, the fragile truce shatters –
the mud throwing and sniping
escalates into a full-blown war of words.
A seven-year-old boy appears
wearing sunglasses, anorak
and brandishing sword and shield;
a metal colander on his head:
This is like a war zone! Stop arguing!
On the fridge he scribbles –
No vilense alowd!
