Of ancient times, love flew from the chest
Pocket of shirts up to heads, that’s why folk
Yanked linen down so hard for more, they bled,
At the shoulders, oblivious to stares of concern.
As collar bones are the most easily broken,
The love widowed wore fragile winged broaches
To faintly anchor lapels – with a relic
Of the mountain where butterflies go to die.
The most beautiful of the summer bugs.
