Horses
Sun blushes into morning, and
the dim night drifts slowly off,
and two horses emerge –
emerge as if from nowhere,
probably from nowhere, and
stand stock-still beside my car.
Haunting breath forms mid-air
and speaks everything that I
would like to say;
and as I regard them from the
kitchen window, mug in hand,
I can almost feel their tough
form whispering my thoughts –
As I turn to call you, they go.
