Night song
It was summer time.
At the lake’s pier
My fellow and I
Were sitting in a boat
After good fishing
And listened to a song
Of girls unfamiliar to us,
From a close camp.
Their lovely voices
Chained us to our thwart,
And we were enjoying
That harmony ensemble
Sing about love.
And tender sounds
Sailed over the lake.
The creak of rowlocks
Accompanied that song.
Used to it all,
The moon’s round image
Was swinging in water.

Accompanied that song.
Used to it all,
The moon’s round image
Was swinging in water.
