One Pair Of Knickers And A Bottle Of Tequila
To no-one else’s flat could I head off to stay
with a bottle of tequila and one pair of knickers.
Oh, and a smile — I’ve remembered my key this time!
Perhaps tonight we’ll catch a film in Camden
and I’ll envy your quick visit to the gents
cursing that last coke as I queue for ages.
At Ruby’s over nachos and red wine we will discuss
our mutual lust for some fit star or other.
Back at your place, we’ll mix tequila with a shot of jazz
then go upstairs and giggle as we struggle
with the duvet from hell. At last we’ll slide
the shapeless thing into its too-small cover.
And I’ll sleep in that big front bedroom where
I’ll start tomorrow dumbbells gather dust
and a rickety airer sports row after row
of fading CK underpants not for your boyfriend’s eyes!
