A Residence
If you seek a peacefulness
that is rightfully yours, come
your anxieties will be enveloped
in plum blossoms as they fall away,
come, it is not far from your noise.
It is the place where flowers wait,
prepare fragrances for daylight lovers;
the place where the clock of the frog
pauses, waits for a twitter
to begin the turn of earth.
It is the land where Amadeus loved to skip;
Franz stroll; Johann after a short walk
would climb and sit in a tree, in the land
where Ludwig came only at sunset.
Come, we shall stand in the seepage of murmurs,
murmurs that rise not to the high slopes
of Mt. Helicon nor to those heights
where canons of property reside, no
not even to those heights that beckon
and flow from twentieth century screens.
It is the place that is the home
of surrendered leaves and in their murmurs
we shall become one with earth’s fair forms.
