The buses are regular, pillar-box scarlet, and the drivers happy,

There are distances travelled though the gaps
Between tyres and curb remain fairly constant.
Journeys, trips: a dirty white container truck
(foreign plates), neatly behind a bendy bus
Whisking an OAP 250 yards up to the fork.
Her GP supplies comfort and pharmaceuticals.
She was wearing a navy coat, Burberry shopping bag,
Can't remember the rest, but the artic is probably
Central European, Czech, Hungarian, Polish even.
Heading our way up the Roman road to the Midlands, up west.
