Secret Rewards in Cape Town
Someone must be slipping secret rewards
to the seals, with more for the agile ones
who cavort down there in the murky basin
or even spring up onto well-placed tyres
to preen, ah yes, for the ready cameras.
Some seem to have been lying there all day
lazy, sinuous , moustachioed gents
scarcely summoning energy enough
to flipper at any rivals earnest
to elbow for room on the casting couch
Action! But why should they bother at all
now, no sweat, they’ve perfected their lines?
