An accidental/incidental gem of a verbless haiku which beautifully illustrates the notion that ‘nouns can suggest action’ (David Cobb). You could, if you felt that way, dismiss it as trifling, fanciful or perhaps even a touch kitsch; but all such quibbles would be irrelevant when pitted against its overriding strengths - its air of spontaneity, its artistry, its charm, its delicacy, its economy, its sheer accomplishment. But never mind the adjectives - for me, you can simply say it works; it disarms, even defies, any pettifogging criticism.
The swallows flying
around my house rebuild

This also looks likely to ‘stay with me’ for a goodly while. I suppose it could be cited as an example of anthropomorphism. But who would dare offer such a feeble and miserable whine in the face of such a powerfully evocative and altogether masterly poem?
