Vivian's Stream (for Robert Browne)
We dammed it a thousand times
as kids, making a giant lake of it
between dunes: a mini Mohne,
an hour-glass for the sun
Splashed all day there
sailing our driftwood boats
and skimming stones
watching the sky drift slowly over
While the dry bed waited
parched and bare
meandering down to where
all the rivers of the world waited
