Penny Windsor
for her own satisfaction
she pressed her bruises on her arms
and stroked the tail of her back
where it hit the kitchen floor
the door of the cupboard sagged
she remembered
as she grabbed it
when she fell
and bits of plate he had broken
stuck in her skirt
not again she said
in the darkened room
never again she said
and as she wept
between her thighs
she began a cold and careful comfort
for her own satisfaction
