proclaimed himself ruler of Otmoor,
knight protector of the sodden mire.
A harvest moon over his shoulder,
an empty packet of hula-hoops
blown up against a boundary fence.
He surveys this realm, measures out fields
in spans of little finger to thumb.
A bend in the road, bottle green trees
obscuring the oncoming traffic.
A golf-club, village pond, broken swing,
resident home for the elderly,
straw bale (site of some first intercourse).
