Stratís Pascális was born in Athens. He studied Politics at the University of Athens. He has published the following books of poetry: Anaktoria (1977); Excavation (1984); A Night of the Hermaphrodite (1989); Cherry-trees in the Darkness (1991); Water Flowers (1994); Mikhail (1996) and Comedy (1998). He has also published a number of translations from French, including Racine's Phédre (1990), Andromaque (1994) and Berenice (1997), for which he was awarded the 1998 State Translation Prize.
