Food for Thought
Waiting for the coach, he watches
as he eats his Burger King
how the jacket rises up her back
leaving a strip of almond skin
above the hipster line.
She's it - he thinks, as most of them could be
if he's honest, and he is -
good skin and breasts, and hair so clean
he could slip his fingers in,
feel the scalp beneath.
It seems beyond important, above reason,
and suddenly what he’s here for:
like he’s short of breath without this,
like outside there’s insufficient sky.
