Art Hole
My husband and I have decided to become an art installation.
He wants it to be known that we are a work in progress
untitled and site specific.
We got the idea through lack of work
and watching the attention that was given
to Rachel Whiteread's 'House'.
A redundant object becomes a work of art.
The key word being work as we have none.
We were inspired and visited the 'Sensation' art exhibition
on a Wednesday.
We are keen to get funding and have applied
to the Arts Council and the National Lottery.
We lie nude in our street and Jon Ronson
from 'The Guardian' is going to visit.
We have both flirted with the idea of bisexuality
but my husband has piles and I have recently had a hysterectomy
so sex does not have the appeal it once did.
Our nephew recommended we freebase cocaine
and we have both found it agreeable, especially my husband
who finds it works wonders for his constipation.
'All art is quite useless' so said Oscar Wilde, but we have earnt
a considerable amount of money through appearing on
'Richard and Judy', 'TFI Friday' and giving press interviews.
It's not like my previous job at the local library
or my husband's thirty years with British Gas
but you have to adapt especially after being made redundant.
The social life is different hanging down The Groucho Club
eating at Damien Hirst's restaurant and gigging with The Blur.
We lost our pension through bad advice and unquestioning
trust.
But now we are downloaded
and all art is work
and all searching for work
is quite useless.
