of gat teeth – how the old witch boasts
eight silk blouses. Worn braless!
Where’s she going? Conspiratorial,
over canteen salads, we love her.
M.D. abroad again, she’ll be dining
some fictitious client young enough
to be her son, legs crossed, of course,
to glimpse that extra bit of stocking.
Two o’clock. Return to the keyboards
for us. A nonsense tittle-tat
of type competes with gossip.
Really? Still not back? Perhaps
she’s at her jeweller, furrier, masseur …
the keys’ excited click becomes
a jealous blur. Mutton dressed as lamb!
Can bet she’s got a problem.
Should be sorry for women like her!
