How To Stop Me Humming
Dear random stranger I saw today:
I hate you
and your bag of Spanish oranges,
your red scarf knotted up and round your mouth.
I wish the strings of steam from your nostrils
would add up to a smoke room with no window out.
On your lunch break in Luis
choose the blond olives in chilli and cumin,
palm a lamb samosa,
as heavy as a collar bone.
Pop it into your pocket.
Eek out the gristle
bring it behind your teeth
chew it like tobacco
and archer at my left eye
as I turn the corner humming.
