Sometimes
Sometimes
through the first floor lounge window
between the large poplar
and sycamore trees,
the sky opens its mouth;
usually just before sunset.
I have settled down
for the evening with a book,
the radio flowing into my head,
as the sky deepens to violet.
Then it happens;
I’m looking down the sky’s throat
have telescopic vision.
It has small silver stars for body parts,
each one has a name;
the throat singing out
a familiar mystery.
And I hope under my wrappers,
at the far end of my being
of blood and bone,
there is a deepest blue
where if anyone dares to look
they will find a galaxy.
