Pain
It's the empty feeling as you walk away,
the coldness of knowing you've gone,
it's the silent house, the prim net curtains
that meet but don't touch,
it's the cat who purrs and rubs your leg
and yawns as she passes by,
it's the heaviness in the head at night
monotonous thoughts,
a woodpecker boring dead wood.
It's the ecstasy that lived before
in a velvet touch of butter and honey,
it's rain-soaked lilacs that drench your mind
and the tautness of love stretched skin.
It's the orderliness of unending days
with the space where you used to be
it's dying to life, it's living to death
it's me, wanting you wanting me.
