Are your eyes still wide and open like satellite
dishes?
Did you ever eat a monkey?
Ever find out where chewing gum comes from?
Do you still kick your left leg when you sleep?
Do you still have the same secrets or have you
told a few?
Did you ever find someone who could talk more than
once an hour?

You were meant to be played at
Was it 33 or 45?
With hindsight
I think it was 78
Do you still dream of horses?
Did you ever?
Do you still have 36 eyelashes on your left eye
And 38 on your right?
Do you still taste of static?
Does your smile still look like someone else’s?
As if you bought it
From a second hand clothes shop
But it doesn’t quite fit
Is your youth still sonic neon?
Or has your bulb dimmed a little?
Do you still get so drunk
That you fall over and put cuts across your back?
Are you still felt-tipped and electric?
Do you still smell of fresh paint?
Do you remember the time
The heel of your shoe
Broke off
And I played hero
And found it?
In your absence
I do.
