Whether swallowed up by massive landscapes
in Kansas or Nebraska
Or chewed between the teeth of one street and another,
He decides to do some gorging of his own.
The best way to persuade visitors to stay
Is to put them in the icebox,
For company, when winter comes.
A quiet, intelligent murderer
listens to music through headphones.
Stravinski he severs the head, Brahms, he doesn’t.
After he has been taken away
They find poems, drawings, limbs.
Now they can’t stop him talking.
