Black and white pillow talk
When it’s time to re-negotiate our marriage contract
and I re-state my need of my wife’s body
as the source of my sexual pleasure,
she says: “Be my guest”.
Afterwards we turn to other things,
the highs and lows of what’s important -
like the cure for hives and how to lance boils,
the neighbour’s dog and the passing years,
and she wisely speaks of hidden costs,
the price to be paid for everything.
Like how I can only describe orgasms as black.
She asks do I mean self-propelling,
self-seeing, self-annihilating...?
And again she offers to make me feel at home
with her black on my white -
her post-modem ideogram
meaning desire,
meaning freedom.
