Strathnaver
He would be
A true Renaissance man
To do justice to
This place
in all its wide variety -
Astronomer to know
When Northern Lights
Illuminate the sky
Ornithologist to tell
The cormorant from
The shag and how
To know
The curlew’s
Eery cry
Geologist to see
The aging
Of the rocks
And why this shape
Why that
And how that colour
Ended there..
Historian and naturalist
Botanist and folklorist
Perhaps even poet..
Can such a man exist?
Old Mr McKay
At the village stores
Knows a bit
About these things.
