Man of Straw
Rumoured to have known essence,
His treasures breathed hazard,
Like a lizard, resistant
Of any revelation.
Rumoured to have known escape,
His wings were the colour of fire,
And oxygen, in his breast,
Was expansion of the soul.
The neon waters, and their wild
Ravings, the glare of the enlightened,
Conjure the illumination, and prance
Invisible to the naked eye.
They cooled him down with spit,
To hell with freedom, they said,
Blind to the grand entity of reason,
I don't think they knew him.
