Packing Up
'There's bags of time yet - I'm just packing some stuff.'
Bell's boxes fill with things that seemed important once:
stones from beach-time, when two people
moved in their own silence;
a rucksack with a broken strap;
boots inside, caked with long-dried mud;
a box of things I thought you'd like -
to be polite you said you did.
I have them now.
Pack emotion away tight.
Tie down the box to be undone later
in my own time.
I put away fragility, wrap it first. There will be no immediate
damage. I press our time into its used container. I'm taping down the lid.
