Versions and Perversions
Carmen Ci
It’s taken me ages
to get here to speak
to your silent ashes,
dear brother I loved.
I’m sad and I’m choked
and I’ve had a good cry
so my gifts are soaked
but accept them please
as honest endeavour,
traditional presents
that father and mother
would have approved.
That’s all I can say
but hallo dear brother
and farewell for ever.
