Work in Progress
These days, the night has an edge
like a broken record, and what it cuts
stays dark. The sandman drops in
blindness. The morning is too late.
The big talk will never take place,
but that doesn’t leave us silent:
what are pubs for? What are cafés
and affordable restaurants for?
No-one can be saved, but many
can be helped out. It gets easier
when you don’t require enlightenment,
when you don’t ask to be forgiven.
