What The Morning Mezcal Says
They’ve vanished now, those bitter
days: but thoughts of last year
linger on, the hardened scars
remain. Putatively let us
drink and hope for better
things to come, anaesthetise
the dawning sense with viscous
orange cactus fluid newly drawn.
Apparently, this bottled worm
throws up a magic world,
escape from sun rise pain
albeit ever brief. Small point
though, in causing banishment
since we are for the dark at last.
Por Dios! When the numbness goes,
thought of next year lingers still.
