But most likely they’ll build cisterns
Tunnelling the DLR
old springs have been uncovered
my neighbour says.
“Why don’t they let one through
build a fountain
alongside the track?”
His look is clear
I must be barmy
They must keep driving the tunnel through
carrying the railway
to ferry people
from To to From.
Whereas water going round and round
would be so
inconsequential.
The man practising Tai Chi
On Point Hill
in the morning fog
knows water is strong
water endures
water disregarded brings down fortresses.
In our street
only the church does justice to the moon.
We are functional
and sod fountains.
Or put them in shopping malls.
I don’t just want fountains -
I want them where I’ll be drenched off guard by the spray.
