Contraption
It sometimes works.
All you have to do is
pour a shot
of mule-skinner whiskey
in the tank
then a couple of
raw eggs mixed
with chicken blood
and the jalopy
starts
with an elephant fart.
Then it potters
down the street
for a block or two
before it needs topping up
with shoe polish,
glue and a cheap
cigar. A nap in the bushes.
A few bars of
Ragged Hungry Blues
then a dog end picked up
in the gutter.
Sometimes it comes home,
parks, and sleeps like a Toyota
that starts every time.
