Grey area
It gets harder all the time
To see the line on the horizon
Where the sea meets the sky,
Nothing out there but dull grey water
And a bank of fog rolling in with the tide,
Like listening blind to the shipping forecast
Or the evening news; harder still to find
The truth in what is said, to know right
From wrong, the living from the dead,
Here with our heads buried
Under the shifting sands.
To see the line on the horizon
Where the sea meets the sky,
Nothing out there but dull grey water
And a bank of fog rolling in with the tide,
Like listening blind to the shipping forecast
Or the evening news; harder still to find
The truth in what is said, to know right
From wrong, the living from the dead,
Here with our heads buried
Under the shifting sands.
