from the sequence If You Love Do Not Fear God
Don’t be Surprised
Don’t be surprised
if when you made love last night
you followed your heart
and afterwards thought
you were dreaming,
transported to another world
which you never wanted to leave.
It was quite different
from your everyday world
and made you feel
no longer yourself
but someone else,
You were half ashamed to acknowledge
the self you usually were
because for that night
you were someone better.
