Editorial - Members' Section
It is fitting that for our twenty-fifth issue we have been able to gather together a sufficient number of our AWPS members’ own poems to produce a special section. Of course, only a few of our fifty-odd members are represented here. Nevertheless there is some indication of the range of poets joining together to encourage the reading, writing and appreciation of poetry.
Over the first few years of its existence, Borderlines appeared rather fitfully. Over the last few years we have managed to establish it on a firmer basis, appearing twice a year. We know from the letters we receive that it is appreciated greatly by members, subscribers, contributors and those who buy the odd copy. These letters speak of the quality of the poetry and the attractive presentation. This is all achieved on a shoestring and with a lot of hard work, so it is good to know that the work is appreciated. Let us hope that in the coming years Borderlines will go from strength to strength.
Over the last two or three years much of the work of the AWPS has been devoted to a project celebrating the Rivers Severn and Wye, at the core of which is the production of an audio-visual show, with photographs, poetry and music, taking a round trip down the Severn and up the Wye from source to source. This has been a collaboration between our Society and Ben Osborne, photographer of Life in the Freezer fame, and with music supplied by Keith Offord. We hope the show, to be launched in Shrewsbury and in Builth Wells in February 2000, will visit many venues in the next two or three years. Look out for it coming your way and give it your support.
Enjoy Borderlines 25. Subscription and submission details are on the editorial page of the open section.
