Post-Coital Triste
This afternoon in bed
a super nova exploded
to make our solar system
at least that’s what he said
it had to be a very big star
or it wouldn’t have worked
neutrons protons electrons atoms molecules
the whole caboodle of fascination
if it wasn’t for helium and hydrogen
we’d be-he said-negative space
there’d be no human race
always talks that way after
sharing our carbon atoms
same long face for over a decade
global dimming from jet streams
a world without sunlight
his current favourite theme
a cheery eco death item or
sad sci bios like how Beatrice Tinsley
discovered the universe expands forever
then died from a melanoma
burnt up before forty by her closest star.
