Between Bamboo
Sheltered by tubs filled with bamboo
they're sitting on the pavement sharing beer.
Her hood falls, revealing curly black hair
eyes that reflect raw sparkle, rain,
she smiles as she passes a can.
Customers pass her to fill the plate glass
of the bar, it always seems empty in daylight.
Seated on sleeping bags, ignored by everyone,
this is her party, the invite read:
"Bring your own beer, your own bag."
Sheltered by tubs filled with bamboo
her party of vagrants have returned to reclaim
their meeting place, their dry shelter,
outside the wine bar next to the station
under the span of the road.
