Prize Fighter
A blond and brawny man
haunts a perpetual trashcan alley.
He executes a triple somersault
from standing. He reverse punches
and roundhouse kicks
leather thigh-booted strumpets
and whip lashing apes. He beats
thugs with thuggery. This is for real.
For hours and hours he is sunglassed,
living and dying and living
to save the kidnapped girl trapped
on level five, the next level.
The aspirations of a young man.
The prize is virtual, sexual,
and worth his life every night
because to be this good takes ages.
