We will be dancing to a different tune that night
A tune as old as time
But still new-born with every repetition
The chords and crochets of love’s harmony
A tune as timeless as the stars themselves
Beneath whose cynicism we betray our minds,
In animal delights.
They see us, foolish mortals caught again
In lust’s remorseless tangle.
Once more re-pairing
Beginning once again to start
The endless circle off the dance off love.
Till quavers quiver in the harmony of dischord
The dance is ended and the stars go out.
