Argot (25) 20c. john hales. po box 196, wellington, new zealand. about the furthest little mag south. a much neater print job on this one than the earlier issues i've seen.. good use of photos and interlinking graphics. basically new zealand poets, some good, some bad. a supplement of fred parmee's concrete poetry which i found rather dull and a short story from the inevitable bruton connors. why shouldnt he be the most published little mag poet and writer.
Glass Onion (1) 10p. roger edwards. together pubs, glanyrafon, heol-yr-ysgol, ynysawdre, tondu, near bridgend, glam. a reasonably neat spirit mimeo mag with printed covers. a fair selection of poets for a first issue too: pete fallon/ dave reid/ steve morris/ dc carr/ david jaffin/ kent taylor/ m edmonds/ & others. contributions needed for next issue. i'd guess that the only thing against this mag at the moment is the address!
Good Elf (4) 8p. lawrence upton. 18 clairview rd, london sw16. a very neat mimeo of poetry. medium pace stuff, no rocks, jumps or falls. edited with a good deal of humour. poems from the regular little mag poets in the main including julie cashford/ david ward/ sneyd/ farrell/ faulkner/ cairncross & good old bruton connors.
Mum's Broadsheet photocopy poem sheets from a new regular london poetry reading mum's underground, sundays at 8pm, 212 west end la, london nw6.
Now Save The Dead a forthcoming mag from rando bottosto, 3504 nebraska eve, tampa, florida 33601. $1 a copy. issue 1 to include locke/ juergensen/ britt/ etc.
The Something Else Newsletter (vol 2 no 1) 40c. 276 park ave south, new york, 10010. fold over printed sheet. dick higgins' "blank images" form content in the new poetries.
Strange Faeces (5) 25p. opal l. nations. 42a pembridge rd, london w11. a solid mimeo but not so good as issues that went before. short blats, longer rambles, didnt really thicken enough for me. including much stuff from anne waldman plus fagin/ brownstein/ schiff/ berrigan/ mayer/ paget/ etc. also from strange faeces comes:
The Opal Americana by opal l. nations himself. free to those who send a 8 1/2 by 13 1/2 sae. by no means as good as opal's normal prose style. bitty, too slick and too heavy on the pop image. zap. but its free.....
