Time: The Breath of investment
(text)
What with two jobs and fifty-four hours a week working, my wide-wale corduroys were wearing thin, so I reached in my wallet and what did I find? No time for shopping, that's what! Whereupon, one lunch break, I went to Citibank for a loan.
My credit line was weak but they ushered me into the Board Room for a chat anyway. There they sat, the so-called direct interlocking directorate. First thing, I took a photo with my hidden camera (this is small ways and spare moments, I try to make propaganda, unmasking monopolists).
I begged to borrow four hours a week for a year, any old terms. They said they'd decided to restrict Citybank's customer base to bigwigs. Besides, the prime rate was rising, they said, and borrowed time, though it might be a boon today, would be a burden tomorrow. In short, they showed me the door.
I'm lucky all I got was a simple no. What with their connectinos, one or more of those tycoons could've put the squeeze on one or both of my bosses. I'm lucky I didn't get mandatory overtime.
