The Land
An Egyptian believed that the first bee
Was created from a teardrop of Ra the sun god
But no one saw the God Ra or his teardrop.
There are those, amongst which are an awful lot who
Believed that the first woman was created by God
Removing a rib, from his creation man and the she
Creation was given life from that single bone.
There are also those who think the deep waters
Have monsters living in them but have never
Really been seen due to the depth and the mist
And others who know that an ape-like man
With very big feet live in the woods
of a very big country which is why no one
Has ever seen this monster or maybe it is shy.
People contact the dead after they have grieved
Or during and are convinced they are alive somewhere.
Fairies canter and dance in the gardens of rich Edwardians.
And many of man's enemies have secret powers over them
To drag them down into a place where there are flames
That lasts forever and that are so hot they are chilly.
One worshipping populace think that their God
Is better than another worshipping populace
And that the goal should be to destroy one and another.
A Persian king dreamt of his daughter urinating until Asia
Was flooded, which he thought showed he would rule all of it.
Also a story told of a man who once changed water into wine
And made a wedding feast quench until they dropped.
Someone called Laksmi was the goddess of beauty
And sprang from the foam of the sea, but this was before
We could see apparently, and then there was Aphrodite
Who had similar origins to her and Vishnu, the father of Laksmi.
There is the Land of Cake and the Land of Nod,
The Land of Enchantment and the Land of hope and Glory,
The Land o' the Leal and the Land of my fathers,
And the land where I am writing this right now,
An enchanted land, one of my fathers where hope
Sprang from the sea and the bee gave honey
And creation is a mystery and the sun shines
And we hope as hope for peace and serenity.
