Mourner
No-one knew her.
She stood,
A pale and crescent moon
Against a blackening sky,
Tall and elegant. (Not one of us).
She held a white and shining rose
In black clad hands,
Dipped in supplication.
When I turned to look again
She'd gone,
Leaving her crescent shadow
Hung inside my mind,
Like a single fallen petal.
My father gone,
I like to think
He too had elegant and secret dreams.
