Good-bye is not worth while
By Beeny, Boterel, Bos and briny Atlantic sea,
You seek the phantom rider, calling, mourning for thee.
By Juliot's vaulted archways where the Vallency Valley wends,
Tragedy falters forwards, a man but held on end.
The spectre of an air-blue gown, a girl with nut-brown hair,
The one once all in awe of you, is it she who draws you there?
When the flip of a lazy seal under crags where you had met
And bending boughs beckon - can it be that you forget
How the indifferent wall hardened, the sordid contract dried,
How lovingkindness was lost when 'cousin' Phena died,
Whilst you, O Lord of the litereri, leant upon coppice gate,
She, shut up in the ice house, would curse malevolent fate?
So, when inking poems of a woman you claim to be much missed,
Sir, I beg to ask you - what vaingloriousness is this?
